The Sport Volunteer Programme (SVP) aims to provide opportunities for ALL students at SNC from ANY course to get involved with volunteering within sport in a variety of roles. The SVP has created a volunteer infrastructure that has supported the delivery of community sport in five city areas of Nottingham. SNC students have been playing an integral role in aiming to create a sustainable, quality and progressive community sports programme across St Anns, Sneinton, Bulwell, Bilborough and Clifton.
The SVP is an ideal opportunity for students to get involved in volunteering within sport and have a chance to give back and make a difference within their local communities. It is a fantastic way for students to gain experience within the sports industry where they can put into practice the skills and knowledge learnt through their academic studies in a practical environment.
Over 100 SNC students have actively been involved through the SVP so far. The students have made a significant contribution to community sport at a variety of local sports events, sessions and festivals. Students have supported through sports coaching and leadership, officiating and event organisation in local schools, sports clubs, community centres and at sports events. The students have had the opportunity to develop numerous skills through their involvement with volunteering and have also had an input in providing sport and physical activity opportunities for hundreds of children across the City.
