The Sport Volunteer Programme linked with Nottingham County Council for the Leadership Academy. The academy comprised of a 2 day training event at Nottingham Trent University which involved 7 students who had been chosen because of their commitment to the Sport Volunteer Project and to recognise the good work they have put in to the community through volunteering.
The training consisted of Multi Skills training giving the students plenty of ideas for sessions they would be both planning and delivering for 6 weeks in selected Primary Schools. Also included in the training was:
The students then had to deliver a 6 week scheme of work in local primary schools looking at all the elements they have learned in the training.
The Sport Volunteer Programme is hoping to do something very similar this 2011/2012 academic year incorporating the new Sportsmakers Scheme into the academy.
