VI Support

We have a qualified tutor working with Blind and Visually impaired students.

Referrals for students come via: request on the application form; from the RNIB College at Loughborough; from talking at rehabilitation groups at the TVI; directly from students; and/or by requests from tutors.

Support can include:

• Assessment of visual needs by evaluation of functional vision and assessment of support needed.
• Support needs directly linked to print, lighting, mobility, access to classes, computer technology and speech based work/Braille.
• Linking with support staff for transcription of materials and provision of technical and classroom support if needed.
• Liaison with local Social Services.
• Liaison with the RNIB Outreach team at Loughborough for further assessment; advice on technology; loan of equipment; support with educational and vocational provision.
