Language Support

Language Support is available to full-time home students who are bilingual and who may experience difficulties with the linguistic requirements of their chosen programmes.

Language Support aims to help students to achieve success in their learning goals. Initial assessment at the first meeting identifies the language skills that the student needs to develop in order to succeed and the student’s preferred learning styles.

Referral of students for Language Support at the earliest opportunity is most welcome. If students are referred early enough, Language Support assessment may help to confirm accurate placement of students on the most appropriate course to meet their needs. Advice in this regard may be offered to Course Tutors.

Timetabled individual tutorials can be arranged by negotiation between the student, the Course Tutor and the Language Support Tutor.

Referral is through Student Support.

ESOL classes are also available to students who wish to improve their language skills. Information from the Course Information Team Tel: 0115 9146464.
