Dyslexia Support
We have four tutors for students who have dyslexia or dyspraxia. They are qualified teachers and trained specialists. Their role includes:
- Assessing students who have previously been diagnosed with dyslexic difficulties to obtain a profile of strengths and weaknesses and learning style.
- Identifying particular dyslexic difficulties which are creating barriers to learning and providing appropriate support including strategies that will help them achieve their primary learning goal.
- Providing the student with information about themselves so that they can take control of their own learning, including the use of ICT hardware and software.
- Making recommendations to tutors about how individual students learn best.
- Making special arrangements for exams/assessments.
- Aiding progression to the next level of learning including Higher Education.
- Offering assessment to students who are referred by members of staff where dyslexic difficulties are suspected.
