TUC Education provides training for more than 30,000 union representatives, Health & Safety representatives and union learning representatives each year. In the Midlands region, over 6000 representatives have been trained over the last 12 months.
At the Trade Union Academy here at South Nottingham College, we offer high quality training where learners achieve nationally recognised educational credits and awards through the North East Midlands Open College Network (NEMOCN). All courses are delivered by tutors with years of trade union experience.
TUC courses encourage everyone to learn in a friendly, supportive, adult learning environment, in surroundings deisgnated for trade union courses. Courses are offered flexibly to suit the needs of union representatives and through the traditional day release model.
At South Nottingham College, we realise that for many representatives, this is a second chance to learn. A range of learning pathways has been established offering all representatives the opportunity to achieve their full potential. These include pathways to University degree courses and to the Technician Safety Practitioner grade of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). In addition, the TUC offers short courses covering a range of trade union issues including employment law, health and safety, equality and pensions.
All courses based in Nottingham are now held in our new dedicated Trade Union Studies venue in Norwich Union House, South Parade which can be located just off the Market Square in Nottingham City Centre.
