The Institute of Travel and Tourism of The Gambia is a college that is partnered with South Nottingham College.
The programmes have been written by South Nottingham College and are accredited by SNC alongside the National Training Authority of The Gambia.
ITTOG is run upon the same principles of SNC and follows the mission statement “Success Through Learning”
In 2009 The World Bank undertook a Gateway Project in The Gambia and stated “Amongst private providers, ITTOG is the only institution providing appropriate training in travel and tourism accredited and supported by overseas institutions”
The students of ITTOG and the students of SNC complement each other's learning. The UK students undertake a two week residential to The Gambia and therefore enabling close interaction with the ITTOG students.
This unique opportunity allows both UK and Gambian students to gain an insight into varying lifestyles and provides a cross cultural experience that benefits both. In particular, our UK students often leave with higher aspirations and an appreciation of the opportunities that exist for themselves.
The Gambian students gain an insight in to their own tourism industry through the eyes of our UK students, thus allowing them to have a better understanding of tourists needs, allowing them to examine potential developments in Gambia’s tourism industry.
