This provides our student hairdressers and therapists the opportunity to offer a comprehensive range of hair and beauty treatments giving them the training and experience they require to succeed in the fast paced Hair and Beauty industry.
Few careers are more satisfying than working in care. These courses help students develop an understanding of people and how they develop emotionally, physically and psychologically. They are a challenging preparation for careers in community work, health services, residential care, nursing, teaching and social work.
There are lots of opportunities for qualified child care staff including working in nurseries, family centres, infants and primary schools and with children with special needs. There are even opportunities to work abroad as a nanny or with children on holiday resorts.

BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care (Level 2)An initial qualification for students who wish to follow a career in the caring services. Students attend a placement to gain practical skills and information for the Vocational Experience unit. Placements are arranged and monitored by placement staff within the college. If you are employed in a care setting, this may count towards your placement on this course. | |
BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Health Studies, Social Care or Combined Route) (Level 3)This course is for those looking for a career in health or social care. Students attend three different work placements over 2 years. Vocational placements are monitored by staff and are an assessed part of the course, which must be passed in order to meet Edexcel requirements. All students are required to complete a Professional Practice Portfolio over the three settings. | |
CACHE Certificate and Diploma in Caring for Children (Level 1)This course is aimed at young people needing to develop life skills and their understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to care for young children. It will also include personal and social development skills and units, plus functional skills in English, Maths and ICT which are essential for further study and employment. There may be opportunities for students to attend childcare placements whilst on this course but this will be dependent on attitude and performance whilst on the course. | |
CACHE Certificate for Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Level 2)This courses supports learners to develop their knowledge and skills needed to work with children from birth. Students will spend some time in the college; possibly three days a week and a placement in two different settings. This course awards occupational competence for the children and young peoples’ workforce at level 2. | |
CACHE Diploma for Children and Young Peoples Workforce (Level 3)This qualification supports learners to build their knowledge and skills needed to work with young people on an unsupervised basis. A two year course for students, which confers occupational competence to learners, whilst also offering progression into higher education. | |
NVQ Apprenticeship Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 2)You will need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week in a Beauty establishment. Students will come into college one day a week to complete the underpinning knowledge and portfolio building to compile the evidence you need for the NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy and Functional Skills at the appropriate level. The Level 2 NVQ in Beauty Therapy enables you to gain a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards for Beauty Therapy at Level 2. NVQ Level 2 Hair and Media Make UpThis qualification is designed to enable learners to learn creative aspects of both hairdressing and media makeup. It is ideal for someone wanting to work on session work, theatre work or specialist areas within the salon and gives the opportunity for progression onto level 3 make up. | |
NVQ/VRQ Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing (Level 3)You will be employed for a minimum of 16 hours a week, but up to 4 full days per week. You will come into college one day a week to complete the underpinning knowledge and portfolio building to compile the evidence you need for the NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing. Students will be expected to be involved in the Annual Hair Show. The Level 3 NVQ in Hairdressing enables you to gain a job ready qualification based on National Occupational Standards for Hairdressing. The qualification will complement the knowledge, understanding and skills already gained at Level 2 and is focused on producing highly proficient, occupationally competent professional hairdressers.
