Course Outline

The Institute of the Motor Industry Certificate covers the basic technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry, including the diagnosis of non-complex system faults. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships and maintenance depots.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grades A*-D, a level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification or other equivalent qualifications. Qualifications must include English Language and/or Maths achievement at Level 1.

Assessment

Learners are assessed by IMI Awards set practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, IMI Awards set 'on-line' multiple-choice testing and by assessments set by the College

Essential Information

The course requires to purchase a range of personal protective and safety equipment, costs will be given at interview. During the course there will also be a number of visits and trips that will require learners to contribute towards.

Career Opportunities


Further Study

Progression can be made onto the IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or other similar Level 3 qualifications. The course will also help you to progress to employment or other work baed training in the motor vehicle industry.
