Apprenticeships provide work-based training for people who want to learn new skills and gain qualifications. The Apprenticeship in Vehicle Body and Paint Operations includes an NVQ; a Technical Certificate and Key Skills in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT. The course covers the technical and practical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry, including motor vehicle repair and spraying. It provides essential knowledge for technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in body and paint operations.
4 GCSEs at grades A*-D, a level 1 Motor Vehicle qualification or other equivalent qualifications. Qualifications must include English Language and/or Maths achievement at Level 1. You will need to be employed carrying out appropriate tasks.
There will be a continuous assessment process throughout the course through practical assessments in a motor vehicle workshop environment, 'on-line' multiple-choice testing and by assessments set by the College. You will also need to build up a portfolio of evidence of your work.
The course requires to purchase a range of personal protective and safety equipment, costs will be given at interview. During the course there will also be a number of visits and trips that will require learners to contribute towards.
Progression can be made onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Vehicle Body and Operations or other similar Level 3 qualifications. The course will also help you to progress within the motor vehicle industry.
