Today's cars, vans and trucks are miracles of modern engineering. There is more computer technology on a standard family car than there was in the first rocket to land on the moon! So if you have a passion for vehicles and a keen interest in modern technology, training to be an Automotive Technician could be the path to an exciting and well paid career.
The East Midlands Centre for Automotive Training (EMCAT) is a part of South Nottingham College. The centre is home to the college's own automotive delivery team as well some of the industry's leading training providers. Training takes place in modern, purpose built facilities in Ruddington where automotive training in conjunction with motor manufacturers has been taking place for over 15 years.

Students benefit from these links by being able to on train up-to-date cars and equipment and are taught the latest skills, knowledge and technologies direct from leading manufacturers. Students also have the opportunity to progress onto an Apprenticeship programme within the motor industry with a leading motor manufacturer as well as being able to to test their skills against other learners from accrsss the country throught taking part in the 'UK Skills' competitions and award scheme.
