Course Information:
There are three Apprenticeship frameworks available within Sport: Activity Leadership (Level 2); Coaching, Teaching and Instructing (Football) (Level 2); Exercise and Fitness (Level 2).
Entry Requirements:
4 GCSEs at grade A*-D (including English language or equivalent) or City & Guilds Level 2 Sport & Leisure Progression Award or equivalent qualifications. All applicants must attend an interview at the College and provide good references. Applicants will only be allocated a place on the apprenticeship programme after a successful interview with the employer (ultimately the employer will make the decision on recruitment for the position of Apprentice).
Course Content:
You will need to be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week. You will attend college one day a week to complete the underpinning knowledge and build a portfolio to compile the evidence required for the NVQ. You will also complete a number of Technical Certificates that compliment your chosen apprenticeship framework.
Assessment:
You will be assessed in the workplace for your practical skills and will produce a portfolio of evidence to show your knowledge of the evidence for your NVQ. You will also be assessed for Certificate in Industry and Organisational Awareness plus 2 other Industry Technical Certificates.
Progression:
Working in Leisure Centres; Health & Fitness; Coaching or with a good tutor/employer recommendation and good performance it is possible to progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3). It is also possible to progress onto the BTEC National Diploma in Sport, Development, Fitness and Coaching or onto the CYQ Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training.
Additional Information:
Students will be expected to purchase a college T-shirt and to find their travel costs to placement.
