Course Information:

Apprenticeships provide the perfect way for young people to earn while you learn, achieving great qualifications and training while acquiring priceless work experience in the sector. An Apprenticeship will give you the ability to work at a high standard in all situations. Getting paid while you learn might sound too good to be true - but as an apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds. If you have the dedication to succeed in the world of work and you're not afraid to commit yourselfto between one and three years of training and study, then an Apprenticeship is for you.

Entry Requirements:

4 GCSEs at grades A*-D to include English Language and/or Maths or Key Skills Level 2 Communications and/or Application of Number.

Course Content:

Apprenticeships are an integrated programme of learning leading to the acquisition and application of the skills, knowledge and understanding required by empoyers. An Apprenticeship is made up of: An NVQ which demonstrates the apprentice's competence in their job role. Key or Functional Skills. The technical knowledge which underpins the apprentice's job role. Employment Rights and Responsibilities.

Assessment:

Continuous assessment will take place throughout the year. You will build a portfolio of evidence to meet the requirements of the NVQ and Key Skills.

Progression:

A level 2 qualification should meet an employer's requirement for junior trainee computer technicians and helpdesk assistants. A natural progression route would be onto the BTEC National Diploma/Certificate/Award for IT Practitioners or a level 3 apprenticeship (as long as you are aged between 16 and 24). If you wish to progress onto a National Diploma course you will require GCSEs in English Language and Maths at grades A*-C or Key Skills in Communications and Application of Number at Level 2.
