Fee Information

For specific part time course fees please refer to our courses page.

Methods of Payment

The course fee listed for each course is the one you pay - THERE ARE NO HIDDEN EXTRAS (students who are entitled to remitted fees should refer to the conditions further down).

There are a number of ways that students can pay their course fees:

Courses that Close

We will endeavour to run all courses for the first two weeks irrespective of numbers enrolled. Where it is not viable to run the course during or after this time then we will have to close the course. If the College closes a course students are automatically entitled to a full refund of course tuition fees and any refundable examination or registration fees. The College refund policy is available on request or refer to the back of the enrolment form.

Withdrawals from Courses

The College refund policy is available on request or refer to the back of the enrolment form. The College will refund course tuition fees where a student can show that a learner had to leave a course due to exceptional circumstances. This would include health, maternity and employment grounds. The learner must submit written confirmation to the College and any refunds will be calculated on a pro-rated basis.

Registration and Examination Fees

Most courses in this guide will have the registration/examination fee included in the cost. Students qualifying for tuition fee remission are still required to pay for registration and examination fees and re-sit fees unless they are in receipt of the means-tested state benefits listed in the remission section below. In this case, they will not have to pay any exam or registration costs.

In all cases it is important to remember that students will need to enter for exams/register with the awarding body. Details of how to do this will be provided to you by your tutor. If students do not attend exams then normally they will be required to reimburse the full cost of the exam fee in addition to any re-sit fee, including modular courses and irrespective of status.

In the case of students who have fees paid by their employer, the employer will be invoiced for the tuition and registration fees at the same time. Remember that we need a letter from the employer naming the student and stating their willingness to pay.

Certificate Policy

Certificates are dispatched by the Examinations Team in A4 boarded envelopes unless otherwise instructed by Schools or individual students. It is the responsibility of every student check the accuracy of their certificate upon receipt and notify exams of any errors.

Certificates are dispatched as soon as possible after receipt from the Examination Board. Replacements certificates can only be requested from the awarding body and must be paid for by students.

To Ensure Exam Entry

In all cases it is important to remember that students will still need to enter for exams/register with the awarding body. Details of how to do this will be provided to you by your tutor.

Other Exam Fees

Late Entry Fees

Exam boards also levy additional late entry fees that the student is responsible for (see above).

Course Materials

Some courses will need the students to purchase additional materials. The College will attempt and inform students of such costs at the start of the course.

Remitted Fees

Courses marked Remitted Fee: Not Available

There is no fee remission as these are leisure programmes and everyone must pay the full fee.

Courses marked Remitted Fee: PCDL

PCDL funded courses are targeted specifically at people living in certain city postcode areas:

If you live in one of the postcode areas listed above and receive means tested benefits the course is FREE. If you live in one of the postcode areas listed above and DO NOT receive means tested benefits you pay the course cost listed. If you live OUTSIDE of the postcode areas listed above you pay the College Cost Recovery rate of £4.00 per hour, regardless of whether you receive a means tested benefit. Funding restrictions mean learners can only enrol on one PCDL funded course during the academic year. Therefore, if you enol on more than one PCDL or a follow on PCDL course, fees will be charged at £4.00 per hour regardless of whether you receive a means tested benefit or not.

Students who are aged 16-18 will get their tuition fees and exam/registration fees paid for. They will only be liable for any course related costs, e.g. uniform, equipment, etc.

The College is legally required to record that we have seen the required evidence from students claiming remitted fees. PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING THEM WITH YOU WHEN YOU ENROL or send a photocopy if by postal enrolment.

Benefit Documents

The College is legally required to record that we have seen the benefit documents of students wishing to claim reduced fees so PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING THEM WITH YOU WHEN YOU ENROL or send a photocopy if by postal enrolment.

For those enrolling by telephone/fax no remission of fees can be given as documentary evidence must be seen before remission can be granted. Students must have their credit card details available.

Please bring original documents and a photocopy or the staff at College will take copies of your documents for you, if this is more convenient (these are required for audit records). This will save both yourself and the College time and effort and ensure that your application/enrolment is processed smoothly. Details of what you need are on the back of the enrolment form.

Students must let the College have their National Insurance Number when they enrol. This is a legal requirement for all Colleges.

If you enrol in person and wish to claim remitted fees, the relevant document showing the type of benefits and your name and address must be produced at the time of enrolment.

If a student's circumstances regarding benefit change part-way through the course, they must inform the College immediately.
