USA University Soccer Scholarships and UK Degree Programmes

  • Adrian has completed his second year studying Sports Psychology at Anderson University in South California having won a Soccer Scholarship in 2007. He is currently in his third year of a 4 year programme. Adrian took part in 2 Balls To Poverty projects.
  • 4 students have won scholarships to Belmont University in North California in 2008 and are currently in their second years have very successful starts. All 4 took part in 2 projects.
  • James won a scholarship to Limestone University, South Carolina in 2008. He is in his second year and appeared on National TV in a 'live' match recently. James took part in 3 projects.
  • Lee won a scholarship to The Apalachian State University, North Carolina in 2008. He is in his second year of a 4 year programme. Lee took part in 2 projects.
  • Daniel won a scholarship to the University of Iowa in 2008. He is in his second year of a 4 year programme. Danny took part in 2 projects.
  • Jordan won a scholarship to Santa Barbara Community College in 2008. He is in his second year of a 4 year programme. Jordan took part in 3 consecutive projects from 2005 to 2007.
  • Michael won a scholarship to The Wesleyan College, Ohio in 2008. He returned to Nottingham for personal reasons and still visits College to assist with coaching in schools trials. He took part in 1 project.
  • Courtney won a scholarship to The University of Saint Scholastica, Minnesota in 2008. He is in his econd year and went on the first ever Balls To Poverty tour in 2005.
  • Dane won a scholarship to Methodist University, North Carolina in 2009 after taking part in his first Balls To Poverty project in April 2009.
  • David was invited to Santos Football Club in Cape Town for a 4 week trial with The South African Premier League Club in September 2008. He was also offered a Football Scholarship at The University Of Stirling, Scotland in 2009.
  • Several students are continuing their studies at South Nottingham College to gain the qualifications required to secure University scholarships in USA in 2010 and 2011.
  • Ben has been selected to join the Football Performance Programme at Myerscough College, Preston for one year on a Foundation Degree before completing the degree programme with two further years of study at The University of Lancashire. Ben has been given the opportunity to move to USA on a scholarship in 2011 having completed his degree in UK.
  • Over 20 students are either at Universities across UK now or are set to go in 2009.
  • Catherine has started her first teaching job having graduated from South Nottingham College in 2007.
  • Many students have stayed on at South Nottingham College after completing studies to sit extra qualifications in Personal Fitness Training since 2006. All 20 have successfully passed their courses and 7 are all currently working in the Personal Training/ fitness industry in organisations around Nottingham.
  • Daniel (2005 and 2006) completed his studies and worked as a coach in Johannesburg for 9 months (2007) before returning to Nottingham to become an Assistant Coach in the College Football Programme (2008). He is currently studying for further football coaching qualifications, is work-shadowing professional coaching staff at Nottingham Forest Football Club, is lecturing at South Nottingham College and is The 4th team Head Coach in The Football Performance Programme at College for 2009/10 Season. He is also Assistant Coach for Nottingham Forest Ladies Team and works in The Centre of Excellence for Mansfield Town.
  • James is the first student from South Nottingham College to represent The England College’s National Team, where he played in an international tournament in Italy (2008). James is also an Ambassador and youth worker in Nottingham, working with “at risk” youngsters in inner-city areas. He graduated from College in 2008 and is currently studying at The University of Limestone in South Carolina on a 4 year Soccer Scholarship programme. He still returns to College in his holiday time to meet with current students and talk to them about their options.
  • Tyrone (2007) is also an inner-city youth worker.
  • Martin (2006), Lee (2007 and 2008), David (2008) and Lavell (2008) all reached the final 26 squad selection for The England National Team.
  • 36 B2P students have successfully achieved The Gold and Silver Awards in The FA Football Development Programme (“Step Into Sport”) with their coaching hours (50 and 25 hours respectively)gained on community work in inner-city Nottingham and in townships in South Africa. The presentations were made by Trevor Brooking at Soho Square in May 2008.
  • Michael is a current Retail Manager at TESCO.
