South Nottingham College, the Education Partner of Nottingham Rugby, will be looking to launch a new Rugby Performance Programme for 16-19 year olds in September 2012. The college and NR will be recruiting a high performance programme of up to 20 athletes/students that will work alongside the Nottingham Rugby Academy.

The Rugby Union team play in the British Colleges of Sport East Midlands Premier League and Cup. Players have the opportunity to be trained by and impress Professional coaches, which could lead to an invite to train and play in the Nottingham Rugby Club Academy.
Training takes place on Mondays and Tuesdays16:30 -18:00 on the ATP at Gresham Sports Park West Bridgford. Games played on Wednesday afternoon are at The Bay, home of Nottingham Rugby.

South Nottingham College is hosting a free rugby coaching session for keen rugby players aged 15-17 on Sunday 18 December from 10.00-3.00pm at its Charnwood Centre in Clifton. The session is open to players of all abilities and will offer an opportunity to receive high level coaching on handling, running lines, decision making and other areas of the game.
The session will be led by the College's Athlete Performance Programme Manager & Nottingham Rugby Academy Manager John Widdowson. Some of the current College players will also be involved. John has a wealth of experience having coached internationally with Tonga under 20’s, Senior County sides of Warwickshire & Staffordshire, and National League sides.
John said, "The day will provide a great opportunity for young people to support their rugby development and raise awareness of the College’s rugby team and new programme coming starting in September 2012 which will combine academia and training."
